Comparing models for lot-sizing and scheduling of single-stage continuous processes: Operations research and process systems engineering approaches
نویسندگان
چکیده
In the last years, several researchers from two different academic communities, the Operations Research and the Process Systems Engineering, have been developing mathematical formulations for the lot-sizing and scheduling of single-stage continuous processes with complex setup structures. This problem has been intensively studied due to its importance to a wide range of industries where a single-stage approach is suitable for production planning. This is the case of the glass container, beer, and dairy production. Recent works have been performed by both mentioned communities, however, no intense communication between these research efforts has been observed. This work attempts a systematic analysis on recent formulation developments of both communities. Based on the result of this comparison, a reformulation is proposed that outperforms in the majority of the cases the previous existent formulations for a set of systematically generated random instances. © 2013 Elsevier Ltd. Simultaneous Lot Sizing and Scheduling in a Flexible Flow Line
This paper breaks new ground by modelling lot sizing and scheduling in a flexible flow line (FFL) simultaneously instead of separately. This problem, called the ‘General Lot sizing and Scheduling Problem in a Flexible Flow Line’ (GLSP-FFL), optimizes the lot sizing and scheduling of multiple products at multiple stages, each stage having multiple machines in parallel. The objective is to satisf...
متن کاملThe Finite Horizon Economic Lot Scheduling in Flexible Flow Lines
This paper addresses the common cycle multi-product lot-scheduling problem in flexible flow lines (FFL) where the product demands are deterministic and constant over a finite planning horizon. Objective is minimizing the sum of setup costs, work-in-process and final products inventory holding costs per time unite while satisfying the demands without backlogging. This problem consists of a combi...
متن کاملA New model for integrated lot sizing and scheduling in flexible job shop problem
In this paper an integrated lot-sizing and scheduling problem in a flexible job shop environment with machine-capacity-constraint is studied. The main objective is to minimize the total cost which includes the inventory costs, production costs and the costs of machine’s idle times. First, a new mixed integer programming model, with small bucket time approach, based onProportional Lot sizing and S...
متن کاملLot sizing with rework and different inspection costs
This paper deals with the single machine multi-product lot scheduling problem in which defective items are produced in any production run of each product. We have adopted the common cycle scheduling policy and assumed that the setup times for production of each product can be non-zero. Further, we have assumed that defective items will be reworked and the inspection costs during the normal prod...
متن کاملHybrid algorithms for Job shop Scheduling Problem with Lot streaming and A Parallel Assembly Stage
In this paper, a Job shop scheduling problem with a parallel assembly stage and Lot Streaming (LS) is considered for the first time in both machining and assembly stages. Lot Streaming technique is a process of splitting jobs into smaller sub-jobs such that successive operations can be overlapped. Hence, to solve job shop scheduling problem with a parallel assembly stage and lot streaming, deci...
